Points of Interest:

Opened 15 Nov 1943.

First aircraft to use the airfield were from 512 & 575 Sqn's (Dakotas & Horsa Gliders).

Bombed by Luftwaffe on 23 Apr 1944.

Operations 'Tonga', 'Mallard' and 'Rob Roy' were mounted from this airfield.

The first Dakota to land in France after D-Day belonged to 575 Sqn.

Both Dakota Sqn's provided much of Arnhem resupply.

After the war, the airfield was used for passenger and freight purposes to Warsaw, Prague Buckeburg and Rome

Airfield closed on 31 Mar 1947

  Airfield building close to collapse What appears to be a brick built toilet building... It's true what they say about being built like a built shithouse - it's one of a few buildings still left standing.
